About Us
Our Mission
This Mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Our Vision
The Vision of Communities In Schools is to be Catoosa County’s premiere educational support provider in creating a community in which every student is inspired, their family encouraged, educators empowered, and our citizens engaged in ensuring that every child graduates high school with purpose and direction.
Our Story
In the late 90s, a staggering number of Catoosa County students who entered the ninth-grade did not graduate from high school.
Disturbed by these figures and driven by a desire to help our youth graduate with a diploma, a concerned group formed Communities In Schools of Catoosa County (CIS). In 1998, Northwest Georgia Bank provided the seed money needed to make it happen! CIS works with the children who are most under siege to remove barriers to school success.
Today, Communities In Schools is the nation's 5th largest youth-serving organization, delivering resources to more than 1.3 million students across the country. Locally, more than 2,800 student have acess to CIS services.

“If it wasn’t for the iFRESH program, I wouldn’t be in school today. I hope iFRESH gets to continue so other kids like me will have the same opportunity. It has changed my opinion on the importance of staying in school.” |
